The Reptile House

Well, I’m just a kid of ill repute
But the skin I wear is my only suit
And you, you’re just a substitute
For the one that I hold dear

Not going to lie: my character’s Durance was heavily inspired by the Decemberists’ “The Wanting Comes in Waves / Repaid,” and her keeper by the Forest Queen.

I drew one of the Keepers from that game I play.
One of the reasons I like C:tL so much - or at least the one we have here - is that there’s a really good focus on it as a horror story. So it has a lot of the elements I like, and doesn’t really focus on the types of fantasy elements that are anathema to me.

I’m teaching myself to color. It’s a slow process; I do not have any formal art training, so I really am just doing a lot of trial and error and experimenting.
For Abernathy Quad, I want the whole thing to look bright and shiny, like a lollipop you just licked. Anyway, this is Victor, the Worst Catboy. He got chubbier and chubbier each time I drew him until I hit a design that I feel fits his personality. He’s meant to be a catboy less of the sexy and elegant variety and more of the sort like that belligerent tomcat you owned when you were eight who would yowl for food and pettings and attack your friends’ feet. Note his horrible facial hair which he feels is majestic and intimidating to others,
